I take my two boys three mornings a week to our local library. They love it! Regular storytime attendance exposes your child to rhymes, fingerplays, songs and books, all of which support you child’s language development. Check your local library to find storytimes near you. Through our attendance I have collected a fair amount of nursery rhymes. Repeating these at home helps your child remember what he/she has learned. Many thanks to Mindy and Miss Alison who lead our storytimes at the West Jordan, UT and South Jordan, UT libraries and from whom much credit I owe for these rhymes!

“Did you know nursery rhymes actually improve your baby’s language skills; that they play an important role in helping her/him learn to read and to understand the grammatical structure of language? And you thought Itsy Bitsy Spider was just entertaining your baby!” –taken from “How do Nursery Rhymes Help Children Develop Language Skills found at www.investinkids.ca.
